A pilot suffered back injuries when his glider crash-landed south of Nelson today.
A southern communications ambulance spokesman said the crash happened just before 2pm at St Arnaud, 100km southwest of Nelson.
The 35-year-old man suffered spinal injuries and was flown by rescue helicopter to Nelson-Marlborough Hospital in a moderate condition, he said.
