KEY POINTS:
A 65-year-old pilot received minor injuries when his microlight plane crashed in Hawkes Bay today.
Hastings police Senior Sergeant Stuart Fleming said police were notified of the microlight crash on Middleton Road in Waipukurau at 8.15am.
"It would appear the pilot was having engine problems and was looking for an emergency landing. On his approach to land in a paddock he appears to have clipped a power pole," Mr Stuart said.
The pilot was taken to Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.
Police were still at the crash scene and a Civil Aviation Authority investigator was expected.
