A pilot had a lucky escape after their glider crashed on the footpath outside St Patrick's School in Paraparaumu late this morning, police say.
The pilot was not injured in the accident, which happened just after 11am in Tongariro Street, near the Kapiti airport.
Police central communications spokesman Ken Climo said the pilot clipped power lines on the way down and was likely to have been heading for the airport when he crash landed.
The cause of the accident is not yet known, but the Civil Aviation Authority was investigating.
The road was cleared by early this afternoon.
The pilot's age and other details were not available.
