A pilot has escaped with a sore thumb after his plane crashed in a paddock at Dairy Flat north of Auckland this afternoon.
Fire, Police, Ambulance and Search and Rescue were all dispatched to the farm where the plane crashed near Wilkes Road just after four o'clock.
Fire Communications manager Megan Ruru said the crews had to attend the crash on foot as it was in a paddock. They found the small fixed wing craft was not leaking fuel and the pilot was conscious, talking, and only complaining of a sore thumb.
An ambulance spokeswoman said the pilot was in moderate condition with hand injuries and had been taken to North Shore hospital for treatment.
