A Whanganui hospice shop has been forced to pay hundreds of dollars to remove a pile of rubbish dumped at their front door overnight.
Among the items dropped off at the entrance to the Gonville Shop in Whanganui were eight mattresses and a lounge suite.
The pile cost the hospice shop $200 to remove.
Acting manager Gayle Ring said the store is often the target for illegal dumping, and to see it constantly happening is "frustrating".
"It was all over the footpath and we've got elderly people out there and they can't get through.
