St Andrew's Anglican Church is holding a community prayer service in support of the West Coast mining community. Franklin's Auckland Council representative, Des Morrison, will speak at the service. The church is also open every day for people to light a candle and pray for the miners.

Northcote
St John's Anglican Church is open every day and is offering quiet time and prayer for mourning for those who have lost their lives in the Pike River coal mine tragedy.

Auckland CBD
Prayers for all affected by the mining tragedy on the West Coast will be taking place each day as the St Patrick's Cathedral is open daylight hours for people who would like to stop by to say a prayer or light a candle.

Takapuna
St Peter's Anglican Church in Takapuna is lighting candles every day for the miners. The church is open until 7pm each day for people to stop and spend a moment in silence.

Remuera
A special prayer service will be held at St Michaels Catholic Church where school children will light candles for the children of the miners, for their wives, partners, parents, grandparents and siblings. This will add to the number of candles that have been lit over the past week as people have stopped by to say a prayer and light a candle for the miners.

Auckland City
The council has set up condolence books at the Auckland Town Hall and libraries across Auckland and is in the process of organising a memorial service.
Hamilton
Hamilton will hold a candle-lit service, with prayers and singing from the Hamilton Gospel Choir. There will be a memorial book to sign which will be sent to the Mayor of Greymouth, on behalf of Hamilton's Mayor Julie Hardaker and the people of Hamilton. People can take flowers and candles to leave behind.

The Matamata Ministers Association Community are holding a memorial service for the Pike River Miners at 4pm this Sunday.

Christchurch
People have been visiting the Christchurch Cathedral in quiet remembrance, signing a memorial book and lighting candles following the mine disaster at Pike River. The Memorial Chapel is open from 8.30am through to 7.00pm (Mon - Fri & Sunday) and 5.00pm Saturday. The Christchurch Cathedral is also holding a memorial service to honour the 29 miners on Monday 6 December.
