KEY POINTS:
Two pig hunters were winched to safety in Wairarapa this morning.
The men had got stuck on a steep shingle slope last night while pig hunting in hills above Turanganui River, in southern Wairarapa.
A friend walked out last night and raised the alarm.
The Wellington-based Westpac rescue helicopter was dispatched and winched the men from the steep terrain about 6am.
