KEY POINTS:
Police search and rescue teams are scouring a Northland farm for a pig hunter missing since last night.
Inspector Kerry Watson of the police northern communication centre said the man set out with his dog on a pig hunting trip but had failed to return as expected last night.
Mr Watson said the man was believed to be missing from land which was adjacent to property owned by his family.
Whangarei-based police and search and rescue teams were at the scene on a section 37km south of Whangarei near Taipuha.
Police said it was too soon to say what fears were held for the man's safety.
"It's early days yet."
