KEY POINTS:
A man caught on camera urinating into a Napier parking pay-and-display machine gave himself up to police last night.
Following widespread publicity about the incident an 18-year-old Napier man walked into the police station at 9pm and gave himself up.
Detective Daryl Moore said he admitted to being the man captured on CCTV urinating over a parking meter in a city car park.
He was arrested and would appear in Napier District Court on August 20 charged with intentional damage.
Police dubbed him the "Piddler on the Roof" because the parking meter was located on the second floor of the parking building.
Yesterday a man who claimed to be the piddler taunted police by calling radio station The Edge bragging about his exploits.
