Police hunting a man who shot a liquor store owner during a robbery last week have released pictures of the alleged offender.
Greenwood St liquor store owner Jiwan Singh Dhaliwali remains in Waikato Hospital after being shot in the right shoulder and suffered a fractured skull after being hit over the head with a hammer in the robbery last Saturday night.
Detective Sergeant Dave Grace said the pictures were stills from CCTV footage and it was hoped someone would recognise the distinctive clothing.
"The gunman's hat has a distinctive embroidered emblem on the front with a sticker or other attachment to the brim," he said.
"Also of note, but possibly not visible in these photos, is red piping that runs from the base of the cap to its top."
The offender with the hammer was wearing a distinctive white hooded sweatshirt with black and turquoise panels on the front and was also carrying a blue pillow slip.
Anyone with information should contact Hamilton police.
