More than 2000 students took part in a haka at Westlake Boys High on the North Shore yesterday that involved the entire school for first time. The emotion was intense during the performance of Westlake's signature Urutoto haka, designed with the help of the head of Maori, Brendon Horlock.
"It was unbelievable," said prinicipal Craig Monaghan. "I had parents in tears saying they have never seen anything like it in their life."
Earlier, Pupuke House won a kapa haka competition between the six newly formed school houses.
