KEY POINTS:
A West Auckland household got a shock awakening this morning after a car crashed into their spare room.
Amanda Burr woke to the sound of screeching brakes and a loud bang that shook the house.
The Mazda 323 came through the fence and collided with the corner structural pillar of her house, breaking windows, weather boards and gib board.
Ms Burr said the driver and passenger got out of the car and ran away before she went down to investigate the noise.
Police this morning said they had arrested the driver of the car.
