In our story on the New Zealand Deprivation Index yesterday detailing how Masterton has a high "deprivation" index, we illustrated the story with the unpainted facade of a house on Church St (pictured).
Following an on-site meeting between the editor and house owner Brian McCarthy, the Times-Age acknowledges the photo was not a fair representation of the house, or of deprivation in Masterton.
Mr McCarthy, a painter and decorator, has been slowly refurbishing the house, as shown in the photo.
The facade facing Church St was stripped in preparation for painting.
