A 30-year-old Masterton man has appeared in court, accused of selling the same mobile phone to seven different people from Rotorua, Tauranga and Christchurch through Facebook.
Appearing before Judge Barbara Morris in Masterton District Court yesterday, Tipene Eru Te Whaiti entered no plea to seven fraud charges.
Police allege he was selling the same cellphone between August 8 and September 24 through Facebook, with a total of $1792 paid by the victims.
He received payments of between $200 and $410 from each individual, including three people from Rotorua, two from Tauranga and two from Christchurch, but failed to send on the cellphones they thought they had bought, police allege.
Te Whaiti was granted bail to a Wainuiomata address.
