Heavy calling volumes into London in the wake of last night's emergency in the city are causing serious congestion in international calls to the United Kingdom.
Telecom is asking customers to restrict calls to the United Kingdom to essential calls.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has set up a special number for people to call with inquiries about the situation in London. It is 0800 432 111.
People should call that number for general inquiries.
Telecom has been advised that international circuits into the United Kingdom are severely congested, as are fixed and mobile networks within the country.
Telecom will give an update on the situation early on Friday morning.
