Embattled Labour MP Taito Phillip Field is back from his holiday in Vanuatu but is staying out of sight.
His lawyer, Simativa Perese, confirmed that the Mangere MP returned to New Zealand on Saturday, but Mr Field is keeping a low profile after police raided his electorate office and home in Mangere and his parliamentary office.
The Herald was told Mr Field was not home when it arrived there yesterday afternoon, and his electorate office had a handwritten note on the door saying the MP was on leave overseas until November 6.
Mr Perese said to his knowledge the investigation had not developed further since the raids on Friday.
He said police had indicated they would interview his client next month and he intended to co-operate fully.
"The searches that were conducted - his response was and is that he's relaxed about it. He's got nothing to hide."
