Pharmac agrees to drug for new patients

Brain tumour patients have won their fight to get funding for a drug to fight an aggressive form of cancer.

But Pharmac's provisional agreement with the pharmaceutical company Schering Plough to fund Temodal will apply only to newly diagnosed patients with glioblastoma from May 1. Around 100 people are diagnosed yearly with glioblastoma.
