A petrol station cashier in Whangarei is in shock after being threatened by a knife.
Police communications spokesman Inspector Peter Raynes says street cordons were up and officers were looking for a teenager who held up the Kamo Mobile service station with a large knife at 12.30pm this afternoon.
A spokeswoman for the service station says the man entered the store, leapt over the counter and helped himself to an undisclosed amount of cash before running off.
"He just wanted the money. He had a cloth over his face, he jumped over, and wanted the money, and just took the money," she says.
An arrest has since been made and police are now interviewing the suspect.
