A Waikato petrol station attendant was attacked during a robbery last night.
Constable Chris Wharton of Hamilton CIB said the sole male attendant at the Whatawhata Petrol Alley service station, 12km west of Hamilton, was approached from behind and punched to the ground about 7.05pm.
Money was taken from him before the offender ran to a vehicle parked nearby in a service lane and drove off.
The offender was disguised but identified as a male, Mr Wharton said.
Police are appealing for witnesses around the intersection of Whatawhata and Horotiu Roads, or the service lane around the time or shortly before the robbery.
