KEY POINTS:
The fire service and Auckland Regional Council have contained a spill of up to 10,000 litres of petrol from an Auckland service station.
A fire service spokesman said that at about 12.50pm the service was advised by the ARC pollution team that up to 10,000 litres of 91 octane petrol had escaped from underground tanks at Petrol Alley in Glen Innes.
It had run into drains and into a waterway, the spokesman said.
