Shell cut its petrol prices by 2c a litre this morning.
BP, Mobil and Caltex matched Shell's price drop, announcing a cut of 2c off the price of unleaded and premium petrol. Garages nationwide will sell unleaded 91 for 148.9c a litre, and premium for 153.9c.
The price of diesel remained the same at all major companies.
Shell spokeswoman Jackie Maitland said today the company had seen a decrease in the "cost of product" over the weekend, and today decided to pass that benefit on to motorists.
