Petrol will drop to under $2 a litre at Gull stations ahead of Auckland's long weekend.
Gull announced it would be dropping prices from 7am today, just in time for holiday makers to fill up before Auckland Anniversary weekend.
Other fuel companies approached would not confirm whether they would also be adjusting prices today.
Gull's discount runs until midday tomorrow, with regular 91 sold at $1.999 per litre at the majority of Gull's 57 retail outlets.
Graham Stirk, Gull New Zealand retail business manager, said many families were still on holiday or enjoying long weekend before school starts for the year.
