New Zealand First wants to be back in Parliament after the 2011 election.
More than 170 people are expected to attend the party's Annual General Meeting in Hamilton today.
While leader Winston Peters is expected to stay at the helm, there will be a reshuffle of candidates.
New Zealand First president George Groombridge says he would like those running to be ready and in the field by the beginning of next year.
He said in 2008, some of the party's candidates only began campaigning a few weeks out from the general election.
