New Zealand First Winston Peters boycotted a Business NZ election conference because he says he was insulted the last time he atttended.
Mr Peters was conspicuous by his absence at the conference yesterday, where John Key, David Cunliffe and other party representatives attended to explain their future plans for business and the economy.
But Mr Peters shunned the conference, preferring instead to campaign in New Plymouth.
"Last election I went and we were insulted by the organiser [Business NZ chief executive Phil O'Reilly] of it, after the meeting, in the most arrogant and silly way.
"We're not bothering to come back again to have these gratuitous insults by someone with an inferior understanding of the economy."
