Peter John Carroll has this afternoon been found guilty of murdering Christchurch man Marcus Luke Tucker.
Carroll, 53, was charged with murder after the body of Tucker, 36, was found bashed and burnt near Lake Ellesmere on Anzac Day last year.
Tucker's family, who were in the High Court at Christchurch, were emotional as the verdict was read out.
The jury deliberated for three hours.
During the nine-day trial, Carroll told the court he only meant to intimidate Tucker and did not intend to kill him.
