A young mother has received serious injuries following a crash on Great Barrier Island.
A Police spokeswoman said they were notified of the crash by ambulance at 8.38pm, which took place on Kaiaraara Bay Rd, near the Akapoua Bay Campsite, at the northern end of the island.
It was a single vehicle crash, with three people involved, including two young children, she said.
The vehicle was reported to have gone into a ditch and one person, believed to be the children's mother, was initially said to be trapped in the vehicle.
The patient was in a serious condition and a rescue helicopter was called to the scene.
