A rescue is underway near Raglan after a person was sucked out to sea out by a rip this afternoon.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter had been dispatched to help with the rescue mission, which is past the breakers north of the Waikato town, said Inspector Ian Brooker, of the northern police communications centre.
Emergency services were dealing with seven water-related callouts this afternoon.
