KEY POINTS:
The occupant of a Christchurch house was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation this morning after a fire in a bedroom.
Fire Service southern communications centre relieving shift manager Karl Patterson said firefighters and two pumps were called to the North Avon Rd, Richmond, property at 6.30am.
They quickly extinguished a small fire in a bedroom.
Mr Patterson told NZPA one person was taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.
