Person missing after going overboard in Auckland Harbour

The search for a man who fell off a boat in the upper Waitemata Harbour in Auckland has recommenced this morning.

Police were notified of a man overboard a charter boat at 9:20pm on Saturday between Kauri Point and Beach Haven.

Two police boats, Coastguard vessels and a police chopper were involved in the search effort, Auckland Coastguard duty officer Mark Leevers said.

The search will resume later this morning, with the Police Maritime Unit on the water, and search and rescue volunteers on land.

Worksafe will be notified.
