Person killed in Ohakune house fire

A person is dead after a house fire near Ohakune this morning.

A Fire Service spokesman said the property in Rangataua was burning fiercely when emergency services arrived shortly after 6.40am.

Four firefighting appliances attended which were still working to extinguish the blaze.

One person was dead as a result.

No-one else was injured.

A fire safety officer was investigating the cause of the blaze.

Police were also at the scene.
