A person is in hospital with a gunshot wound after a firearms incident near Lake Rotoma.
Police say an investigation is underway and officers are still trying to determine how the person was shot earlier today.
"Initial indications are that those involved are known to each other and we do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the public," a police spokeswoman said.
The injured person is being treated at Waikato Hospital.
