A person has been hit by a car on State Highway 1 near Pokeno in the Waikato district.
Police described the person as a pedestrian and said the crash happened at the Pokeno on-ramp north lane.
Police and emergency services are at the scene of the crash and police say traffic is heavy in the area as SH1 now has only one lane open.
Police have asked the public for patience while the lane closures are in place.
