Person hit by car at Curio Bay, Southland flown to hospital

One person has been flown to Dunedin Hospital in a serious condition after being struck by a car at Curio Bay this morning.

A police spokesperson said police were investigating after a woman was found seriously injured following a single-vehicle incident.

Emergency services were called to Waikawa Curio Bay Road, between Ara Pahu Bay and Mair Road, about 11.10am.

The victim was transported to hospital by helicopter in a serious condition.

Police are making enquiries to establish what has occurred.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one ambulance attended the scene, while the helicopter was dispatched from Dunedin.

Police said the incident was reported at 11.10am.
