Person flees south Auckland crash

A person fled the scene after a two car crash which left a woman injured in south Auckland this afternoon.

Emergency services were called about 4pm to the scene on Puhinui Rd, near the Manukau City centre, where a woman was trapped in her vehicle, police said.

She was freed before fire crews got there and taken to hospital. Her condition was not known.

An ambulance spokesman said another person involved in the crash fled the scene.

There was a significant traffic jam onto the southern motorway and police advised motorists to use alternative ramps as delays were expected to extend through rush hour.

The serious crash unit is investigating.
