One person has died after falling into a coal range in the Marlborough town of Renwick yesterday.
A police spokesperson said emergency services responded to the incident on Boyce St around 3.45pm after the victim received serious burns.
They were airlifted to Hutt Hospital in Wellington with critical injuries, where they have since died.
“Their death has been referred to the coroner who police are conducting inquiries on behalf of.”
Hato Hone St John said it was notified of a fire incident in Renwick at 3.47pm.
“Three ambulances, one helicopter, and two operations managers responded.
“One patient in a critical condition was airlifted to Hutt (Wellington) Hospital.”

The man has now been jailed for 'hundreds' of indecent assaults he inflicted on her.
