A person has died after their car crashed into a tree when they suffered a medical event in Collingwood in Golden Bay this afternoon.
St John were called to the crash, which appears to be on private property, just before 1pm today.
The crash happened on Collingwood-Bainham Main Rd between Devils Boots Rd and Pah Rd North and appeared to be a medical event, a police media spokesman said.
A St John spokesman said ambulance attended, but no one was transported to hospital. He referred any further enquiries to police.
A Fire and Emergency NZ communications spokeswomman said two fire crew from Collingwood and Takaka attended a motor vehicle accident, but left after establishing the car wasn't blocking the road and that no one was trapped.
