A person is in hospital with facial burns after an incident involving a rubbish fire in Waimakariri, Canterbury.
Daryl Ball, a spokesman for Fire and Emergency New Zealand, said firefighters were sent to the scene at a rural property on Woodfields Rd to assist St John just after 11am.
It is not clear at this stage how serious the person's injuries are, however Ball confirmed the person was taken to hospital.
