Wairarapa all-rounder Elizabeth Perry, pictured above, has been labelled a "player to watch" at the national development women's cricket tournament which got under way in Christchurch yesterday.
Perry, a member of the Central Districts squad, was accorded that description in a media release from New Zealand Cricket, along with Suzie Bates from Otago, Olivia Bupha-Intra and Sophie Devine from Wellington, Aimee Lenssen from Northern Districts and another two Central Districts players, Courtney Sim and Phillippa Gernish.
The tournament, which goes through until Sunday, sees six major association teams meet in one round of 50-over matches
Central Doistricts was due to play Northern Districts yesterday and today they will face Auckland. Then comes Otago on Wednesday, Canterbury on Friday and Wellington on Saturday.
The two top sides will then play off in the final on Sunday.
