Ford and its Melbourne-based performance arm, Tickford, have got together to produce the Falcon S, a tricked-up performance model with improvements to styling and handling.
The S boasts a rear spoiler, sports suspension, sports seats and alloy wheels and, at $42,750, is priced below the XR range, the recognised Tickford models.
"The Falcon S offers buyers an opportunity to get a taste of the Tickford experience earlier than they might have in the past," said Mike Stuart, Ford New Zealand brand manager.
The new model is distinguished by a body-coloured version of the Forte's vertical grille, a rear spoiler, lower ride height and 16in alloy wheels. It also carries a Falcon S decal on the rear quarter panels and rear bootlid.
Inside, the front seats are bolstered for extra support and the steering wheel is trimmed in leather.
Options for buyers who want to personalise their Falcon S even more include 17in alloys, Momo steering wheel and single CD player. A $3200 mechanical option pack offers independent rear suspension, antilock ABS brakes and a limited-slip differential.
The Falcon S goes on sale in New Zealand next month.
