Perfect weather for long weekend

The weather is expected to be beautiful for the majority of the long weekend.

MetService says a ridge of high pressure is on its way and will bring plenty of sun and light winds for most on Saturday and Sunday.

But it says the settled weather will not last for too long, with rain expected on Monday as people drive home.

Wet roads are expected in the South Island and western parts of the North Island.
