It was a notable success for Donald Leighton when he skipped the winning team in the Wairarapa Indoor Bowls Association's triples championship.
Victory gave Leighton his 10th centre title, earning him a bar to his gold star.
Partnered by Sarndra and Peter Bain, Leighton eliminated George Mahupuku's team in the semis, while the combination of Elva Simonsen, Marilyn O'Neale and Janice Leighton defeated a Bush-Ruahine trio skipped by Robbie Little.
The final was a cracker with the scores even at 5-5 after five ends and 8-8 after eight. It was Leighton who had the slightest of leads though, 10-9, at the end of the 10th and last end.
The Tombs Trophy representative match between Wairarapa and Bush-Ruahine involved 24 players.
