Ernst & Young name chairman

Errol Clark has been appointed chairman of the newly-formed Ernst & Young Capital Corporation Ltd, a joint venture between Ernst & Young's corporate finance group and International Capital Corporation Ltd. The new venture will provide specialist corporate financing services focused on strategic development, capital raising and related financing services.

* The communications manager of Compaq Computer in Britain and Ireland, Peter Wogan, is returning to New Zealand to take up the post of director of marketing communications with Compaq here.

Mr Wogan is a New Zealander who joined the company in Britain in 1997 after working for a British public relations consultancy. Before that he worked for a public relations consultancy in Auckland where he was the Compaq account manager.

* Petra Barkley has become account manager, customer premises cabling, for the northern region of Connector Systems. Phil Casey has become northern account manager broadband networks.

* Alstom New Zealand has appointed Bill Smith as general manager for energy. He joined Alstom in Australia in 1997 after working as a naval and marine engineer.

Mark Righini has become head of the company's telecommunications services group.

He has had 10 years with the company in New Zealand, Australia and Britain.

* Silvestro Morabito has become director retail operations for Woolworths (NZ) Ltd, responsible for the operation of the company's three retail brands, Woolworths, Big Fresh and Price Chopper.

He was director of Fresh Foods. The role of the company's director of strategic business development, Des Flynn, has been expanded to encompass both business development and marketing.
