Former journalist Mark Champion is the new manager group public affairs New Zealand, with the Air New Zealand-Ansett Australia Group. He was manager of corporate communications with Vodafone New Zealand and also held the same position with BellSouth New Zealand before it was sold. Before that he was involved with TVNZ's Frontline and Assignment programmes.

Colleen Buist and Don Davidson have joined Guardian Trust's new financial planning division. Ms Buist has had 15 years in financial services and was with WestpacTrust. Mr Davidson has had 40 years in the industry, most recently with BNZ.

Carol Gilroy joins Executive Appointments Ltd as a senior associate. She has worked in HR with Fisher & Paykel and Arnotts Biscuits, and has also worked as a consultant in England and Germany.

Owen Keates has been reappointed vice-chairman of the Australia and New Zealand chapter of the Supply Chain Council, a post he first held in 1999. Mr Keates is a principal consultant at Mi Services Group.
Two other New Zealanders serve on the 15-strong council board, Steve Espie of the Dairy Board and Danie Vermeulen of Carter Holt Harvey.

Royal & SunAlliance's manager personal financial services development, Mike Watson, has become strategic development manager for the group. He has had 20 years in financial services with the company.

The former managing director of Metropolitan Life Insurance Group, Peter Fitzsimmons, has become chairman of the start-up life assurance company, Club Life. Other directors are Hellaby Holdings chairman Bill Falconer and Hellaby's managing director David Houldsworth. Naomi Ballantyne is chief executive.

Mary-Liz Griffin has joined Royal & SunAlliance as life communications executive. She was with PR Chambers and has also worked with Fletcher Wood Panels and Prudential Portfolio Managers Ltd.
Val Graham becomes life communications manager. She has had 10 years in financial services in Britain and was lecturer in marketing and advertising at Auckland University of Technology.
