Intimate apparel company Bendon has appointed Howard George as New Zealand manager. He was the company's general manager (finance). A chartered accountant, Mr George joined Bendon in 1989 and has been a key player in the development of the company's business in Australia. In his new position he will focus on building the New Zealand business, including the retail stores, Bennett and Bain and Bendon on Broadway.
* David Penny has joined landscape specialists Natural Habitats as operations director. An MBA graduate from Stanford International School of Business, he will focus on customer service and the day-to-day performance of the company. Mr Penny brings to the company his experience as construction quality controller on the Kaimai Tunnel, the Lloyd Mandeno Hydro Scheme and a number of Anchor Products plants in the Waikato.
* Bridgestone/Firestone's new marketing manager, David Hine, has joined the company from Dulux New Zealand, where he was national accounts manager. He has a BMS from Waikato University and worked for four years in the oil business in Britain.
* Freedom Group has appointed Rod Walker as managing-director of the company. He has been with Freedom for over six years and during that period has directly controlled a number of areas of the business.
* Keith Hindle has been appointed chief executive of KPMG Legal, which has merged with major legal firm Kensington Swan. Mr Hindle was managing partner of KPMG in Wellington and has broad international commercial experience.
* He was involved in developing KPMG's international strategy for consulting. In his 11 years in charge of management consulting, he presided over a 10-fold growth in that area.
* Woolworths (NZ) Ltd has appointed new directors, with responsibilities extending across all 81 Woolworths, Big Fresh and Price Chopper supermarkets. Chris Nicklin, previously meat business manager, has been named director of meat and seafood.
* Ian Pavey, who has had 24 years of supermarket retailing in Australia, will head the company's produce operations.
* Business software and e-commerce developer exo-net international has recruited Russell Holmes as web developer. Mr Holmes, who has a BSc in psychology from Nottingham University in Britain, will be responsible for developing e-commerce initiatives as well as the maintenance of exo-net's range of integrated e-business software applications.
* Russell Puttick, New Zealand business manager for Australian Paper, has been appointed to the new Melbourne-based role of commercial manager, Amcor Business.
* The role has been created following the demerger of PaperlinX from Amcor. Mr Puttick will retain overall responsibility for Australian Paper's New Zealand business.
* Chris Mackenzie has joined Momentum Consulting Group as a consultant specialising in the recruitment of sales and marketing people. She has had extensive experience in the field.
