People on the move

Hugh Burrett becomes chief operating officer of ASB Bank and ASB Group as part of a restructuring resulting from the more extensive international role being undertaken by managing director Ralph Norris as head of international financial services for the Commonwealth Bank. Mr Burrett will take over responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the bank and will be Mr Norris' alternative on the boards of ASB Bank, ASB Group and Sovereign. He has been with the bank for more than 30 years. Peter Hall becomes head of securities treasury and Commonwealth Bank country head for international banking.

Norman McCann is the new managing director for Hewlett-Packard in New Zealand and Australia. Mr McCann is based in Sydney and will sit on the board of Hewlett-Packard New Zealand Ltd.

Jason Baker is joining Bass Hotels & Resorts as sales manager international. He has had 12 years in tourism sales and marketing with Newmans Tours, Great Sight Tours and Tourism Holidays Ltd.

Rene Van der Graaf will join DB Breweries next year as general manager, sales and marketing. He is with Heineken's operating company in Spain as marketing manager and replaces Alan Gourdie, who moves to Amsterdam as international marketing manager for the Heineken brand.

The managing director of Rexel New Zealand Ltd, Nigel Power, is moving to Paris to join the head office of Rexel International. He is being replaced by Rex Carpinter, the firm's South Island regional manager.

Peter Walsh is to head ORIX New Zealand as general manager. He has worked for the company here and in Australia and was general manager, sales and operations.

Don Gellert becomes operations and supply chain manager with gen-i ltd. He has worked as purchasing manager and product delivery manager for the company. Andrew Collins becomes procurement manager. He was account manager for procurement.

John Brodie is joining J. D. Edwards as supply chain specialist. He has had more than 20 years in IT supply chain performance improvement and project management, and has held management consulting roles with Simpl Group and Ernst & Young.
