People on the move

Post Haste Ltd's new general manager is Dan Meiklejohn, who was with New Zealand Couriers. He replaces Dean Bracewell who has been promoted to managing director of Freightways Express, which owns both Post Haste and New Zealand Couriers.

Canadian Larry Bilodeau is the new chief executive of BOP Fertiliser, replacing Rex Syminton who is retiring. Before coming to New Zealand in 1997, he managed several world-scale manufacturing operations in North America. He has since been general manager of BOP South, responsible for the company's South Island operations, and the Petrochem N-Rich Urea manufacturing plant in Taranaki.

Dr Oliver Hofmann has taken up the new position of general manager at Shieling Laboratories. He was technical director at Diversy-Lever and research fellow at Auckland University.

Sheraton Auckland Hotel and Towers has promoted its catering sales manager Simon Hema to corporate sales manager. Mr Hema has held management positions at several Auckland hotels. Kai B. Taylor is the new reception manager. She has worked for 12 years in international hotels in London, Paris and Tel Aviv and as chief purser on cruise liners.

Mark Templeton is the new CEO of Willson Brown Ltd. He has a background in management consultancy and new-venture developments, and was chief executive of ESR Ltd. He replaces Paul Brown who becomes executive director responsible for international marketing.

Gavin Cormack is the new group chairman of the New Zealand-owned international engineering consultancy, Beca Group. He replaces Sir Ron Carter who will continue to hold a board role in strategy development and key relationships. Mr Cormack has been a principal of the firm since 1968 and was later executive chairman of Beca Carter Hollings & Ferner Ltd. He has also served as chairman of Trade New Zealand, the Concrete Society, the Centre for Advanced Engineering and as deputy chairman of Ports of Auckland.

Tony Mitchell has joined Baycorp as general manager group sales. He has had senior sales roles with technology-related companies in New Zealand and Britain, most recently as British sales manager for Novadigm UK Ltd.

Evan Geeves has become the construction manager for Hartner Construction Ltd, following the promotion of Peter Kay to general manager. Mr Geeves was senior project manager for the Carson Group and previously spent 17 years with Civil and Civic, nine of them as New Zealand construction manager.

Ana Reyes Bradanovich is joining DBM Asia Pacific as product manager for the region. She has a background in teaching, training and development, and in outplacement and career management consulting. She was with Career Services.

Excell Corporation's new national civil contracts manager, Morgan Pheloung, was with W. Stevenson and Sons Ltd as operations manager of construction division contracts. He has also been earthworks and roading operations manager for Downer Construction (NZ) Ltd.

Bill Trestrail, the new managing director of SGI Australia and New Zealand, was national sales manager, corporate and government, for SGI Australia. He replaces Greg Sitters who has left the company to join a new enterprise to which SGI is a key supplier.
