The financial controller of Air New Zealand, John Dell, has been promoted to general manager finance. Mr Dell, who holds a BCom in accounting and finance, and is a chartered accountant, joined the airline in 1994 after eight years with KPMG in New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland and the United States. He became financial controller in 1996.
* Gerald Lange has joined DBM New Zealand Ltd in Auckland as senior consultant. He has spent the last six months on secondment to DBM Singapore. Before joining the firm he was a senior consultant with Executive Appointments and has also worked as a barrister and solicitor.
He replaces Lesley Elliott, who has become executive director of marketing for DBM Asia Pacific region, based in Auckland. Peter Becks, Archdeacon of Auckland and vicar of St Matthew's-in-the-City, is joining the firm's Wellington office as senior consultant.
* The chief executive of the Southland District Council, Brian Wood, is joining Montgomery Watson New Zealand Ltd as general manager. Mr Wood is a former assistant chief executive and director of finance for Dunedin City.
* Guy Pierce is taking over as chief financial officer of Newcall Communications Ltd. He has had 20 years in commerce and chartered accountancy, and was company secretary of New Zealand Salmon Ltd.
* The sales and marketing manager of David Forman NZ Ltd, Jim Collings, has become general manager for New Zealand. The move, which is part of the change of licensee in Australia, means managing director Frances Jenkins will focus on continued expansion of the Australian market.
* Heather Riley is the new Wellington-based business development manager for Stamford Plaza Auckland. She will be responsible for coordinating the hotel's corporate business and for developing new contacts.
She has been in the hospitality industry here and in Australia, and was conference manager at the Millennium Rotorua.
* U-Bix Document Solutions has promoted Bruce Koefoed to marketing manager, responsible for product and marketing communications nationwide. Mr Koefoed has had 14 years in the industry and has been with U-Bix for nine years, most recently as a product manager.
* Graeme Ham is joining Accor Asia Pacific as regional human resources manager. He has had senior HR managerial roles in the hotel industry for 16 years, and has worked with Heritage and CityLife Hotels (Dynasty Group) and Southern Pacific Hotels (SPHC Group).
