People on the move - June 12

Kevin Francis has joined Asia Online to head its professional services unit. He was originally from Britain and has held IT positions with Netway Communications and Datacraft.

* David Quinn is the new business development manager for Novell. He has been with Compaq Computer for the past six years, most recently as marketing manager, enterprise services and solutions, and also had a technology distribution company.

* Baycorp's new general manager, group sales, Tony Mitchell, has had 18 years in senior sales roles with technology-related companies here and in Britain. His last position was British sales manager for Novadigm UK.

* Andrew Thompson has joined Zespri International as general manager, commercial. He was finance and administration manager-operations, with Sealord Group in Nelson. Lorne Peters, who was financial controller for Pilkington Glass, becomes group financial controller, while Roy Savage, who was treasurer-foreign exchange and capital markets with Citibank, becomes treasurer. Paul Head is the new general manager, strategic marketing. He was executive manager marketing with AMI Insurance. Graham Cole, who was IT manager with Goodman Fielder Milling and Baking in Australia, becomes information services manager.

* Metrowater has appointed Brent Egerton information technology manager. He has been with Counties Power in different positions, including knowledge services coordinator.

* Diana Kahui is Monster.com's new Asia Pacific director of technology/product. She has a background in accounting, marketing and computer engineering and has worked as senior technical engineer for Westpac Bank and as director of information technology for TMP Worldwide. She will be responsible for the technology support and development of all Monster.com sites in NZ, Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

* John Turner has been appointed display sales manager of the New Zealand Herald. He has spent most of his working life with Advertiser Newspapers in Adelaide and for the past six years was advertising manager at the Sunday Mail.

* Kelvin Read is the new sales manager factoring, for Orix New Zealand. He has had 12 years in banking, finance and sales management, and has worked for Westpac and Countrywide and as financial controller/export manager for a seafood export company.

* Bayleys Real Estate has appointed John Dobrowolski general manager, commercial and industrial sales, at its Auckland office. He headed the company's Auckland commercial sales team and has had more than 15 years in property sales and leasing, development and asset management.

* Derek McCormack has become general manager and deputy vice-chancellor (administration) of the Auckland University of Technology. He was AUT's corporate services director. Mr McCormack is a former research scientist with the DSIR and senior lecturer in biochemistry, and course supervisor for sciences, at Otago Polytechnic.

* Stewart Gibbs is heading the NZ operations of PeopleSoft. He has a background in general management, sales, marketing and business development, and was professional services manager for J. D. Edwards. He has also worked in NZ and Singapore for the niche publishing software company Atex.
