Five managers have been appointed to the national franchise network of Books and More. Tanya Houghton (formerly retail business manager, NZ Post), Trish Harpur (formerly manager of Rebel Sports, Albany) and Grant Febery (Paper Plus) have become franchise support managers. David Thackery, who was franchise manager for Whitcoulls and London Bookshops, is franchise operations manager, while Linda Fletcher, who was with KPMG and who has been in Britain for five years, has become financial controller.
* Greg Hurn has become financial controller at Telecom Directories. He has been with the company for five years and previously worked for Countrywide Bank. Heidi Ivory is the new agency area manager for the northern region. She has been with Telecom Directories for a year and was area manager for South Auckland.
* The chief executive of the Customs Service and Comptroller of Customs, Graeme Ludlow, is joining international consultancy firm Clapp & Mayne. He will be the leader of a major national customs modernisation project in Asia which is partly funded by the World Bank. He has been with Customs for 35 years, and became chief executive in 1992.
* David Glen is joining the call centre management company Page 1 Ltd as general manager. Mark Hodder has become IT manager.
* Zalman Paris has become marketing manager for the Starbucks Coffee brand. He has a retail and hospitality background, and was most recently national marketing and sales manager with Budget Travel.
* Murray Reid has joined Rapp Collins as group account director. He has 10 years experience in direct marketing. Melissa Neutroski and Sheree Cook have become account managers while Kylie Ellerly has joined as an account executive.
* Former BNZ chief economist Paul Stewart has become general manager, group strategy for Baycorp Holdings Ltd. He has a background in economic, industry and financial analysis, and has spent the past year developing two Northland-based tourism businesses in which he is a major shareholder. Fiona Seymour is joining Baycorp as group corporate solicitor and company secretary. She has had 11 years in commercial law in New Zealand and London, and was with Chapman Tripp Sheffield Young, where she specialised in mergers and acquisitions.
* Nikki Wylder and Rob Davies have joined LANscape as technical account managers. They both have computing industry backgrounds.
* Jacqui Berman is heading training, development and recruitment for the travel and tourism division of Xpand Management. She has had 10 years in the travel and tourism industry here and overseas.
* Chris Wade has become sales manager of Miller Moyes Seacraft. The company, which makes Haines Hunter boats, began 54 years ago and is New Zealand's oldest production trailer boat company.
