People trapped in a burning Rotorua house this afternoon were able to escape safely, the Fire Service said today.
However, the Kawaha Point Road property was badly damaged and two bedrooms gutted, northern fire communications shift manager Scott Osmond told NZPA.
It was not known how many people were in the house but all were escaped uninjured.
Three fire appliances attended the blaze, which started just before 4.30pm and was centred in the two bedrooms.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames within an hour, Mr Osmond said.
